Intego is awsm. I have that. You basically can’t get a decent one for free. That’s why there’s ones where you pay money. I’d suggest taking the money to spend on a decent one to actually protect your computer.

There are several that are very good….AVG, Avira and Avast.
The best protection is you. Be aware of things that change on your machine. Keep it up to date with virus definitions. Run scans and defrag regularly.

Out of all the antivirus programs you have named, I have experience with three. Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, & McAfee Security Suite. I would recommend any one of these three as far as protection goes. I will say that McAfee’s security suite, comes with more of a comprehensive protection, which as a result, means that McAfee will use more system resources. It’s not necessarily better it’s just more.

Only single antivirus cannot help u out in tough situations ,
You need a combination of softwares to help protect ur PC .
Here is the combination that I use
Avast antivirus > Malwarebytes > Super Antispyware > Comodo Firewall .

u can use AVG or Avira FREE in place of Avast , thats ur choice
As Far as avast is concerned , u need to register for free , give them ur email address and they will send u a free licence key for avast (i.e. for 1 year ) and u are entitled to use the software for 1 year !

U can get the above on following addresses –
    Avast – http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
    AVG – http://www.free.avg.com/
    Avira – http://www.free-av.com/

    Malwarebytes – http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    SuperAntispyware – http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Any one of the following Firewalls -

    Comodo Firewall – http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

    Zone Alarm Free Firewall
    http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm

These apps work in combo to protect ur PC , and provide rock solid protection against viruses ,and all are free !

    Good Luck

If you don’t get any slow downs I think you should go with Mcafee it gives you a complete protection and is free. Comodo has a good firewall, but it’s malware protection in really low. Microsoft in new and is only a anti-virus program. Avira and avast are both good, but are not security suites. Mcafee also has been doing a good job in recent tests.

Dear friend Avira, Avast, AVG, Comodo, PC tools, Rising, Panda, Micosoft security essentials, Clam, Mcafee all are best for computer protection. If you want sum thing seashell for you system than bestantivirusreviewed.com help you.

I tried Mcafee and don’t really like it because its just like Norton Anti virus and uses a lot of system resources which slows down your computer. If you want a good anti virus, you can try kaspersky. This Anti virus has the highest detection rate of viruses, worms, Trojans, adware, and spyware. You also get updates every hour instead of once a day or once a week. Nod 32 Anti virus is also a good anti virus scanner that is very light on resources.

Double R suggested Microsoft Security Essentials which is a fantastic free anti-virus application. You should also download Windows Defender which scans for and combats Spyware. Windows Defender increases web security and protects against identity theft. Check it out here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx
