I would like to know that how can I block bonjour service? (through pc tools firewall)
I am on a university campus and I need to secure all of my ports (kinda’ stealth feature?) how can i do that?
I would also like to know that is disabling windows firewall a good idea?
by default pc tools does that ( i am using pc tools firewall plus v. 126.96.36.199)
I am asking this because previously when windows firewall was enabled, my service/network discovery + file sharing was switched off.
Which i felt much safer, and even the local computers were NOT visible.
But I checked it out in my network neighborhood that I am able to see only my PC but not others; is this safe too?
So is this the same ?
Thanks for your time helping me out
When using a 3rd party firewall it is normal for it to deactivate windows firewall. You do not want to have 2 forewalls.
. Go to the ‘Advanced Rules’ view’
2. Choose Zone: Internet Zone or Trusted Zone (the rule that you will create will be added to the zone that you choose).
3. Click on ‘Add’
4. You need to choose ‘Ethernet Type’. Click on the ‘Ethernet Type’ check box and you will see a line added to the second view (titled as ‘Step 2: Edit the rule …) saying: where the Ethernet type is Undefined.
5. Click on the Undefined and you will get a pop up that will allow you to choose the Ethernet Type
6. After choosing the Ethernet Type you can choose protocol. If you chose for example Etherenet type ‘IP’, you will have the option to choose various IP protocols like TCP/UDP etc. If you don’t specify protocol (don’t click on the ‘where the protocol is’) the rule will apply to all packets with the same ‘Ethernet Type’
