It automatically downloaded onto my low-power netbook when I downloaded something else to get rid of a virus… and now it’s making internet slow and take 20 seconds to get to another page.

i have pc tools antivirus and after realizing it doesnt work..i want to delete it. everytime i do though, i loose internet connection and cant get on any website..how do i delete it without loosing my internet?

To try and resolve this issue, you may want to repair/reset the winsock.

In command prompt, type netsh winsock reset
You will need to right click on command prompt and run as an Administrator. ”

What they’re telling you to do is hold down the windows key and press R, type “cmd” and press enter, and then type “netsh winsock reset” in the window that appears. They say this works perfectly, so you should be set after doing this.

i want to no what the difference is becouse if i get the pro tools on pc i sace ALOT of money but if i ge tthe mac i need to buy one. people have told me that mac is beter for some reason..

For starters, Protools isn’t Linux friendly, that’ll be fantastic when they eventually do and I’m sure it can’t be too far in the future.

There are several core arguments, first and foremost for most users is that the mac OS is more transparent, where Windows is more processor and memory intensive just to run in the background. That said, there are quite a number of ways to optimize windows machines to work more efficiently which allows for more DSP power within ProTools (PT). Running in Classic mode, turning off the internet, having a hard drive or partition that’s only for PT, optimally having a separate boot of windows that’s super streamlined for PT, no norton or other internet protection on, all animations off, etc. all make it easier to run DAWs like PT. The second reason is the audio/midi driver setup and troubleshooting; macs have a very easy to deal with audio/midi device setup that’s very logical and easy through visuals, where PCs use ASIO drivers that have to be carefully installed and maintained which can be something of a pain in the neck since the interface has its own ASIO driver that has to supercede the computer’s own and that can cause conflicts. When PT is open, it essentially owns all the hard drives, disk drives, and audio which windows can have problems with at times.

I personally run a mac, but I have a lot of friends that run PC versions quite successfully.

im wondering cuz in a couple weeks my norton internet security trial (came with my laptop) will run out. im thinking of geting pc tools internet security wen the norton subscription expiers.

Yes, their Spyware Doctor is one of the best paid antispyware, and the free Spyware Doctor Starter Edition is almost as good.

my uncle installed it for me and it wasnt gonna expire for at least another 100 days and today when i went on it says its just a trial and i need to register but i can’t pay. what happened?

If it is a trial version and you don’t want to register you can’t be getting
full protection. Is it a genuine version or a cracked version. If what you
have is doing the trick you could use it up until it runs out then uninstall
it and then install a new trial version. You wont be forced to pay but be
vigilant as internet security is a must have these days with all the sad no lifers out there who live to exploit innocent net surfers.

Hi, Ok i use PC tools Antivirus, I use it for the Main virus Checker in Windows Xp Pro, i used to use AVG Free edition 8.0
but it slowed down the Scripts in the Help & Support center, so now i am Ok with PC Tools, But I Have one minor problem, When I Open up PC Tools Antivirus:

Start>all programs>PC Tools antivirus>PC Tools antivirus

When it Opens up, My 3 Inch Floppy Drive (A:) makes a little sound, In the past when i used Spybot Search & Destroy, it also made a little Floppy Drive Whirl Sound, HOW do i get rid of that so it Wont Make that sound…….When i used AVG Free edition (7.5) & (8.0) it never makes that Whirl Sound…..
I dont think its a computer problem, but i dont know what it is, but how do i fix it. Suppose i put a Blank Floppy in my 3 1/2 Inch Floppy Drive, It would make a sound when i double click it,
It does a similar sound when i Open up PC Tools Antivirus
any idea why it does that?

It’s normal. I run PC tools Threatfire and ZA Security Suite and it happens. If you had a disc in the drive it would scan it. The sound is the AV attempting to scan.

If anyone has used this on Vista i’d appreciate feedback on how you got on with it, as im currently on the look out for a new one.
Im currently using Comodo but it is such a massive program compared to the PC Tools Firewall.

It would be nice to have a good level of security at a fraction of the size, without the overkill that goes with using comodo.

I’ve tested it on a Vista Home Premium laptop and found it light on resources and easy to configure (compared with Comodo Firewall); when you install, it asks you whether you want normal mode or expert mode – I chose normal mode and that simplified matters considerably. So far so good; I run it alongside Avira Antivir (although PC Tools Antivirus is excellent too) and Pc Tools Threatfire with no issues. When you reboot after installation, you will get several alerts from programs requesting access to various system resources – if you disable these, some programs you rely on may not work properly so you will need to go into settings to allow them. Make a note of the programs/processes you disabled. Frankly, if you are satisfied that your system isn’t infected, alllow all requests and disable as necessary later.
